The International Baccalaureate programme is recognized throughout the world and is a passport of education for every child.  IB students develop their cognitive reasoning so they learn how to ask pertinent questions and think "outside the box".  An IB education puts your child in charge of their own success by teaching them, from a young age to think for themselves, be independent, and yet, able to work in as team effectively.  It is the goal of the IB programme that these children will have the skills needed to be leaders of tomorrow.

How do we achieve this?

All our lessons are delivered as open ended investigations - this means that there is no set time in which a subject ends or even a lesson - some lessons may take a whole day to finish and some topics run for the whole school year.  As long as there is interest, and another questions to answer, we will keep investigating. This does not mean we ignore the learning outcomes directed by the BC curriculum - we meet all of these too.

What is the Primary Years Programme (PYP)?

It is a transdisciplinary programme of international education designed to foster the development of the whole child.

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on the total growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.  The PYP draws on research and best practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children.  To find out more about International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme,  please visit their website: http://www.ibo.org/

Finally, if your child continues their IB education through to grade 12 they have first pick of universities, often being able to apply five months earlier than most graduates.  Also, they can apply to universities in other countries with ease, as the IB standard of education is recognized worldwide.  Currently, in BC, once a grade 12 student graduates with a full IB diploma they have completed up to 18 credits of university courses so they have completed most of year one!!
