We welcome your interest in seeking admission for your children at Fraser Valley Elementary School. Admission to
Admissions Procedures:
The process includes a tour, review of all application documentation, interview and a completed student entrance exam (Kindergarten entrance only); we try to ensure that the student is suited for the level and style of education for the next school year. Your completed application, all supporting documentation and the application fee must be submitted in order to be considered in the priority round of decisions. Please remember that completing an application does not guarantee acceptance.
Step 1- Complete an Application for Admission Form
The first step in the application process is the submission of a completed Application for Admission form with all accompanying documentation along with $100.00 application fee and $100.00 assesment fee. Once we have received a fully completed application form, and the application fees, we shall be happy to process the application.
Canadian Citizens or Residents: please return completed an Application for Admission form with:
- a photograph of the student
- a copy of the student’s birth certificate
- a copy of the student’s most recent school reports/records/evaluation form
- a copy of the student’s immunization record and medical insurance number
- $100 application fee and $100 assessment fee
Additional documents need from international students:
- a copy of parents passport and working or student visa
- a copy of student visa and passport

Step 2-Family Interview
All candidates and parents are required to have an admission interview. You will be contacted directly by Mrs. L. Roberts to set up your appointment, and together we will set a date for your child’s entrance exam day. This will take place within 1 to 2 weeks after receiving your complete application and its fees.
Step 3-Entrance Exam
All applicants are invited to Fraser Valley Elementary School for an Entrance Exam (1 ½ hours in length): this includes a time in a group observation setting, much like that typical day of Fraser Valley Elementary School. The teacher will speak with the child about what the Fraser Valley experience is like, and ask them to write an “Entrance Exam”. Students will be asked to perform certain tasks (i.e. drawing a picture, making a story from a series of pictures, identifying letters and sounds, demonstrating any reading skills they may have) These tasks are designed to give the school insight into the applicants’ individual skill sets so that the teacher can be fully prepared to make the classroom as welcoming and harmonious as possible in September.
Step 4-Acceptance Letter
All candidates will be notified, in writing, that the Entrance Exam has been completed and an acceptance letter, where possible, will be mailed out within 2 weeks after the exam has been conducted.
Step 5-Decisions
Parents of new students have ten (10) days from receipt of the acceptance letter to notify the admissions office of their intent to enrol their child and to pay the $500.00 placement fee. This will be applied to your tuition fee for the year, but is not refundable if you decide to cancel your enrolement for any reason at FVES. Your placement fee guarantees a reserved spot for your child. We ask that parents read all tuition and fee materials very carefully.
Withdraw Policy
In the event a student withdraws after commencement of the school year, notice of withdrawal shall be given one term in advance, in addition to the current term, or fees shall be paid in lieu thereof. In the event of a student being expelled from the school, no tuition fees will be refunded.
